The young cast members of Canadian teen drama Degrassi recently sat down with MTV News to share their dreams as future actors. Three famous alums from the show – Drake, Nina Dobrev, and Shenae Grimes – were named as popular role models.
Monroe Chambers said, “I’d love to do this, all the time. I just love to do acting. I’d love to be Nina. I’d love to do more stuff in this industry and keep doing it.”
He added, “I’ve never met Drake, or Aubrey [Graham] as we know him. I’ve never met Shenae. And, I’ve met Nina once or twice and she’s a sweetheart.”
Chambers’ co-star Annie Clark also said, “Nina and Shenae have what I would like [to follow] for the future. [Nina] always remembers everyone too. The set is very homey and friendly, so it’s kind of like going back to your actual high school.”
“I’d love to like try and stay in school,” Alex Steele shared. “But I’d also really love to do shows, like Nina Dobrev, [who] has her own show basically.”
Jordan Todosey suggested she wanted to follow in Drake’s footsteps.
“I love acting, so I’d love to stay in acting,” she said. “But music is such a passion of mine and I write songs and sing, so I think it’d be so much fun to break into the music industry too.”
Degrassi airs on Canada’s MuchMusic and America’s TeenNick. Watch the interview!
