Zac Efron: “I Don’t Think I Am A Heartthrob”

Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling did an interview for their new film The Lucky One on Sunday (April 1).

Accompanying the photo on his Twitter page is the caption: “Kicking off day 2 of #TheLuckyOne press junket with Zac’s first interview of the day! – TeamZE”

The movie – based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks – is about a marine who travels to North Carolina after serving in Iraq and goes on a search for the woman he believes brought him good luck during the war.

With a romantic drama like that – female fans are going to swoon. However the 24-year-old actor denies he’s a teen idol.

US magazine reports he was speaking with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith when she asked him to explain what it was like to be a heartthrob.

“I can’t explain to you what it’s like to be a heartthrob, [because] I don’t think I am a heartthrob. I hate [that word]. I hate it. It follows you around, but you don’t deserve it. It’s like, ‘Why?’ “I’m just me. I’m just Zac. Just Zac.”

Zac continued to reach out to the masses with a cute video message of himself and posted it on his WhoSay account today.

In it he says, “So this is going to be my official twitter, facebook, and instagram. I know it’s been a long time coming but I think you guys deserve it. It’ll be me and sort of my team. I’ll try to post as much as I can so check out often.”
