Zac Efron Worked To Make ‘Lucky One’ Character Authentic

Zac Efron‘s new movie The Lucky One just had a great opening this past weekend, coming in a strong second place at the box office and – along with Think Like A Man – knocked The Hunger Games off its top spot.

In an interview on the British talkshow Daybreak, Zac talked about taking his role of a Marine very seriously and working hard to pay tribute to them. “I went thought sort of ‘marine school,’ I did training and a lot of weight lifting to really look the part,” he said. “I wanted to do the marines justice because these are real American heroes, this is a bit more sensitive than anything I’ve played before.”

Part of his training involved getting to know some of the marines personally. “I went down to meet several marines with the directors, and really we were just given time to sit with them and ask them questions and find out as much as we could about what it’s like to spend a day in the life of a marine. And it was incredibly insightful,” the 24-year-old actor shared.
