Goodbye Disney days! Vanessa Hudgens is trying to shed her good-girl image, and she’s well on her way in her next two films. The first one, Spring Breakers, is about a band of college-age girls who rob a fast-food restaurant in order to afford a spring break trip to Florida. Then there’s Frozen Ground, a thriller that centers around a serial killer – and Vanessa plays a stripper.
But according to the 23-year-old actress, she’d been yearning to do these types of films in advance of her squeaky-clean image. “Before High School Musical, I wanted to be a nitty-gritty actress. And High School Musical came along, and I was like, “Oh my God, fun!” But the more we did it, the more prude I became,” she tells Glamour magazine.
Vanessa says she still wants to please her young fans, but her future career is definitely not G-rated. “When I am around kids and they come up to me, of course I am going to act a certain way, but at the end of the day, I’m doing this for myself. I’m going to be doing movies kids can’t watch.”
And she’s not kidding – an unfinished leaked trailer for Frozen Ground was promptly yanked from YouTube because of its racy content.
