Pretty Little Liars‘ Shay Mitchell looked lovely as she attended the Target Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection launch party in New York City, on Wednesday (November 28).
The actress – who went slightly edgier than her usual look – hit the red carpet in a sheer top, black and gold patterned jeans and Skaist Taylor for Target vest.
Earlier this year the 25-year-old opened up about struggling to fit in during her early years. “I grew up in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood, but my mum is Filipino-Spanish and my dad is Irish. All my friends had fair complexions with blonde hair and blue eyes. In high school I was an outcast,” Shay said. “I wasn’t cool to hang out with. I ate my lunch in a bathroom stall because that was the one place I could go where I wouldn’t been seen.
“Growing up, I wish I hadn’t tried so hard to fit in. I’d tell myself to just embrace what you were born with because it’s beautiful and you were made like that for a reason. It’s tough being a girl. I think we need all of the support we can get.”
But Shay hasn’t had any problems fitting in with her PLL co-stars. “I’m so close with each of the girls for different things. Trojan is my go-to when I want advice on something. She’s literally like her character—so smart. Lucy is so cute and southern. We joke around a lot on-set. And Ashley is like the fun, carefree little sister who I never had.”
Target and Neiman Marcus are teaming up to offer a gift collection from 24 different designers that will be available in stores on December 1st. The two companies will make a joint $1 million donation to the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
