For Victoria Justice, the first of the year is a time to recall her “firsts” – everything from attending The Sundance Film Festival for the first time, to buying her first home. “2012 was an amazing year for me. It’s one that I will always look back at fondly because I had so many firsts,” she writes in a blog post she wrote on January 1. Check out these memorable moments for the Victorious actress.
I went to Sundance for the first time, promoting a film I was in, called The First Time ( how apropos) directed by Jon Kasdan, whom I now call a friend. This film also marked my first time stepping into a more mature role than what people are used to seeing me in on Victorious. Even though I was only at Sundance a couple of days, it was a very memorable experience for me and yes, there was plenty of snow.
I celebrated my golden birthday this year which only happens once in a lifetime. This is not only a first, but the only time that this will happen in my lifetime. I turned 19 years old on the 19th of Feb. and I had just landed in London which is one of my favorite cities in the world.
I also went to Madrid, Spain for the first time ever. The city is so beautiful and the people there were so welcoming, I will never forget it.
Victorious won favorite TV show at the Kids Choice Awards for the first time. The cast and I were extremely grateful…we have all of you to thank.
April marked the first time I met Drew Barrymore when she photographed me for “V” magazine, which was my first time in the magazine. Drew was great and the photo shoot was fun.
May 7 was my first time ever attending the Met Ball. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Met Ball, it is the Academy awards of fashion, (it’s fashion’s biggest night) and I had the most amazing time. It was also my first time wearing “McQ” from the Alexander McQueen team.
May 15 was also my first time ever performing or being on the Ellen show. I performed a song I wrote with Martin Johnson (from the band “Boys Like Girls”) called “Make It In America”.
On June 9, the cast and I gave our very first concert in Orlando. It was raining so hard, but the clouds parted for about an hour just so we could perform and it was great!
On June 23rd, Max Schneider, Kurt Schneider and I uploaded our very first medley together on Kurt’s channel. This would mark the first of three collaborations between us. They would all be shot in one take.
I fulfilled a dream of mine and bought a house for my family. This was definitely a first.
I played my first date of my first ever headlining tour in Costa Mesa, California on August 2. My first time ever playing to a sold out crowd of 10,000.
1. My first time on the cover of “Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood” issue. It was for the month of October, but it hit newsstands in late Sept. and it marked my second time on their cover (the first time was September 2010). I felt really honored.
On Sept. 27 for the first time I was the guest of honor at the “Teen Vogue Young Hollywood” party that I had been going to since I was 14 years old. It was a night I will never forget.
2. September 12 was my first time on the late night talk show, Chelsea Lately to promote Fun Size. Chelsea played my mother in the movie Fun Size.
3. Sept. 18 also marked my 5th time visiting London, but my first time visiting Manchester. I loved it and I got to meet so many people that I wouldn’t of had the chance to meet if I hadn’t gone there. It was amazing!
1. My first leading role in a studio movie was released on October 26, Fun Size.
2. My first time on the cover of the October issue of “Latina” magazine.
3. My first time ever going to Brazil and Argentina and attending the Kid’s Choice Awards in both countries. The people and the food were amazing…made so many new friends.
My first time ever in Australia! I visited Melbourne, Sydney and Hamilton Island…I absolutely loved all three. The people there were amazing! I tried vegemite for the first time, held a koala bear, saw a real life kangaroo, flew over the Great Barrier Reef in a seaplane and so much more. This is a trip I will never forget.
I also was honored to perform for the first time at the “Rockefeller Tree” lighting in NYC. It was an incredible experience and one I will never forget.
The first time I was ever on the cover of a magazine for the third time. The magazine is “Girls Life”. My first cover with them was the 2009/2010 December/January issue, my second cover was the October/November issue in 2011 and my third cover is out on newsstands right now. Thank you “Girls Life”. I’m really honored and I always love shooting with you guys.
I’ve had an amazing year and I want to thank each and everyone of you for all of your support. I love a new year, because it’s the beginning of unknowns and that to me is so exciting. I hope all of you achieve the things that you would like to in 2013, but most of all I wish you all happiness, health and peace.
