Fans of the hit show House Of Anubis know Burkely Duffield as the school’s resident bad boy Eddie Miller. In real life, you’re more likely to find the 20-year-old actor playing video games and hanging with friends rather than using mysterious powers on classmates.
Burkely chatted exclusively with Celebrity Teen Scoop about his character Eddie, and also what we can expect to see in Season 3 of the hit Nickelodeon series. Be warned: They’re about to take you over to the dark side!
Celebrity Teen Scoop: Tell us about your Nickelodeon series, House Of Anubis.
Burkely: House of Anubis is a mystery/drama show that features boarding school experiences with a twist of supernatural mystery. With all its characters and real life teen problems, it’s got a little something for everyone to relate to, while keeping you absorbed as the mystery unfolds and has the student’s lives in peril!
CTS: Give us some background on your character Eddie Miller.
Burkely: My character Eddie came into the series last season as the “bad boy” to the school. At first, he stirred up some trouble in the house and had quite a rocky relationship with his dad who is the principal. But as he settled in, he let down his cocky front and genuinely became close friends with the Anubis house residents, and this year he is leading the mystery as the Osirian!
CTS: Can you give us a sneak peek as to what we can expect in Season 3?
Burkely: Well I can say that it is our scariest season yet with the darkest sets and most evil villains! As well there are a lot of relationship roller coasters that definitely keep you on your toes! Bottom line is, if you are a fan of the show or even a newcomer to the series, it’ll be a season to watch!
CTS: How are you similar/different from Eddie?
Burkely: I’d say that I am similar to Eddie in that he likes to do things his way, and sometimes that involves “doing” before “thinking” which can get both of us into trouble at times. But I definitely don’t have any ancient Egyptian Osirian powers, so I’d say Eddie definitely outdoes me in that department!
CTS: How did you get your start in acting?
Burkely: I always have been interested in performing and did drama in school as well as musical theatre. Then when I was eleven I accidentally stumbled into the industry through some childhood family friends who had an agent, and consequentially went for my first audition. After I got a taste of the fun when I booked my first commercial, I was hooked!
CTS: What has been your favorite role so far?
Burkely: Hmmmm, that is a tough one! At the moment I would have to say Eddie is currently my favorite role because I have played him for two seasons and I’ve been able to explore the character with the ups and downs of his life, so it’s been a lot of fun!
CTS: What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Burkely: Well when I’m not working, a perfect day would start with a good sleep in and then probably be filled with playing some sort of video game/computer surfing, and then I’d be going out to hang with friends!
CTS: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
Burkely: It’s hard to narrow it down to one film, but I’d say Transformers 3 would be my choice! With all the action, explosions, and intensity in that movie…what more could you want!
CTS: Who would be your dream co-star?
Burkely: There are so many prestigious actors and actresses that I would love to have the opportunity to work with, but if I had to say one, I’d definitely like to act alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He’s had some really cool roles recently and he’s done them brilliantly, so I’d be honored to work next to him!
CTS: What exciting things do you have planned for 2013?
Burkely: After finishing season three, I’m planning on going home to have some time with my family, and then packing up to move to LA! But the majority of the year will hopefully be once again going back to England to shoot another season of House of Anubis!
