Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester has landed a part in a dramedy called The Judge. Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dax Shepard and Billy Bob Thornton also are in the cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter – The Judge is a co-production between Team Downey and Big Kid Pictures. Plans to shoot in Boston are in the works.
The movie has Downey as a successful attorney who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral to discover that his estranged father – who is the town’s judge – is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth – and along the way – reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.
Since Gossip Girl wrapped – Meester has appeared in Date Night, Country Strong, The Oranges and That’s My Boy. The actress once said in a past interview she doesn’t want to play a rich girl like her character Blair Waldorf in the CW series.
She said, “I have actually read quite a few good scripts lately, which is rare. I would like to continue doing movies and that’s pretty much all I can say. I don’t have an ideal role because my ideal is doing a different role every time I work. I just want to be challenged – so probably not play a rich girl for a while.”
