Sad news for The Wanted‘s fans – Nathan Sykes will be taking an extended break from singing to have throat surgery. “We can confirm that The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes will undergo specialist throat surgery on Thursday 18th April in Los Angeles and as such will be taking unforeseen hiatus from The Wanted,” the band said in a statement.
Nathan thanked his supportive fans via Twitter. “Thank you for all of the kind messages. Putting a smile on my face x,” he wrote.
The band’s statement continued, “The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the band’s promotional commitments across the world.”
The rest of the band – Siva Kaneswaran, Max George, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker – sent out their support for Nathan on Facebook. “Our lil Nath has to go in for an operation on his throat, on his birthday to make him better. So please join us in wishing our brother and our friend well. Get well soon Nath, we love ya!”
