Emma Watson stars in a new film, The Bling Ring, and the actress says to gain inspiration for her role she looked to — the Kardashians. Although to be fair, she was playing the part of a troubled teen in L.A.
“I watched a lot of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Hills, and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible,” she told reporters at the film’s Cannes Film Festival premiere.
“I didn’t want her to be just a parody. The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect. I also thought a lot about what her parents must have been like.”
In the film – based on a a true story – Emma plays part of a group of teens who rob celebrity homes. Among the homes they target are those of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
But the Perks Of A Wallflower actress says she was careful not to have her role be a parody. “This really isn’t a heist movie,” she said. “It was about how these kids wanted to pretend for just two hours or so that they were actually Paris Hilton and living that life.”
