Calum Worthy stars as Dez on Disney’s popular show, Austin & Ally. The young actor and seven other stars of shows like Good Luck Charlie will appear on stage together for the Tween Stars Live 2013 Tour. Kicking off Saturday, July 27th, this family-friendly event gives kids the chance to see their fave stars up close and personal!

Calum recently opened up to Celebrity Teen Scoop about his character Dez on Austin & Ally, what he’s looking forward to doing the most on the Tween Stars Live 2013 Tour, and how he would love to work with Tom Hanks and another prominent actor. The Disney star also shares a hilarious story about how he once auditioned to be the face of Old Spice!

CTS:You play the role of “Dez” on Disney’s Austin & Ally. Can you tell us about your character?

Calum: “Dez is an aspiring director and the eccentric best friend of Austin Moon.  His odd clothing style and lack of social skills often hide his wacky intelligence.  Dez will do anything for his best friends; he’d work day and night to finish a project that could help his friends move to the next level in their career.”

CTS: How did you get cast in the role?

Calum: “I have been acting and working on films and television shows in Vancouver, Canada since I was 9 years old. After guest-starring on Good Luck Charlie and Zeke and Luther, I got an audition for Austin & Ally.  I was really nervous, because the character was so crazy!  I remember that the character description was very vague and I didn’t know what to do.  I decided to take a risk and go BIG, and, luckily, it worked!”

CTS: What is your favorite part about being on Austin & Ally?

Calum: “Austin & Ally is such a fun show to be a part of, and I love working with my cast- mates. They are some of the hardest working kids in Hollywood.  I also love reading new scripts each week, because from fighting kangaroos to falling in mouse traps, I never know what I’ll be doing next. I also LOVE my fans.  They have been so dedicated ever since Austin & Ally first premiered.  I really wouldn’t be here if they weren’t so amazing to me.”

CTS: You are set to perform in the upcoming Tween Stars Live Tour 2013. What is the tour all about?

Calum: “This tour is all about the fans.  There will be a lot of publicity events that we’ll attend to promote our shows or a product, but this is an opportunity to give back to the fans and personally thank them all for being so AWESOME!”

CTS: How are you preparing for the tour?

Calum: “I have to prepare something?!? Uh oh…”

CTS: What are you looking forward to doing the most on the tour?

Calum: “I am looking forward to meeting the fans!  I’m also excited to see a lot of friends who I’ve worked with who will also be on the tour with me.”

CTS: Which actors and actresses would you like to work with the most?

Calum: “I have been a Tom Hanks fan for years, because I love his projects and his versatility.  I was also able to meet Robert Downey Jr. several times last year during the Avengers promos I did for Disney Channel, and he was so cool.  I would love to be able to work with him again.”

CTS: Could you share a funny story from one of your auditions?

Calum: “I once had an audition to be the face of Old Spice.  I thought the audition was a joke, because I’m not ripped or tan. [laughs] Turns out it wasn’t a joke, and the first thing they asked me to do in the audition was flex.  I told them that I was flexing!” [laughs]

CTS: What do you like to do when you are not on-set or preparing for a role?

Calum: “Whenever I’m not on-set, I go to university.  I love learning and I take every possible opportunity I have to jump into a new course.”

CTS: What else do you have going on this summer?

Calum: “This summer, I am busy filming the new season of Austin & Ally.  We start on July 8th and we are all so excited!  I am also working on another project that I can’t talk about yet, but I think you are really going to like it!”
