Everyone needs a bestie. But in Hollywood the competition is fierce and it isn’t always easy to find someone to trust. That’s why the bond between Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens is so rare in this industry known for backstabbing drama.
“She’s like my family. She’s like my sister. We grew up together,” Ashley tells OMG! of their friendship, that started way back in 2006 on the set of High School Musical and remains strong to this day.
“We were part of something that was really exciting,” Ashley added, recalling playing Sharpay Evans in the successful TV movie trilogy alongside Vanessa as Gabriella Montez. “Doing a franchise, you become a family with everybody in that cast. It’s hard to explain because it’s a bond between all of us.
“Nobody knew that it was going to be super successful. It’s not one of those movies that are made after a book and are super successful. For us, it kind of came out of nowhere. We were like, ‘Whoa – what just happened?'”
Ashley adds that “Just going through stuff together” is the key to their lasting bond. “She’s like my best friend. I’m so supportive of her and she’s supportive of me. I’m so proud of her and all the work she’s done.”
