You may have heard Kelsi Luck‘s hit single, “That’s What I Like,” in promo’s for FOX, ESPN, and the CBS feature film The Do List. The rising singer recently teamed up with world-renowned UK songwriter Claudia Mills to work on her EP, and she is also currently on tour with popular alternative pop singer The Ready Set.
Celebrity Teen Scoop recently chatted with Kelsi about her collaboration with Claudia Mills, her greatest musical inspirations, and what fans can expect to hear on her upcoming EP. She also shares great advice for young people thinking of getting into the singing/song-writing industry!
CTS: Tell us about teaming up with internationally renowned UK songwriter Claudia Mills. How did the collaboration come about?
Kelsi: “Claudia and I met through a mutual friend in the music industry and we instantly hit if off (we’re around the same age). I can’t imagine my music career without her; she plays a key role in my songwriting, and she also really helps me in the creative directing of my project.”
CTS: What do you like the most about working with Claudia?
Kelsi: “Claudia is from the UK, so it’s always fun working with her and her British flair!”
CTS: You are currently working on an EP. What can fans expect to hear? When it is set to release?
Kelsi: “Fans can expect to hear music with the same throwback elements and quirky vibe as the last single, ‘That’s What I Like,’ but I’m trying to add other musical elements to make sure all the songs on the EP are different. I am working on the release of a 2nd single and music video as we speak.”
CTS: Your song “That’s What I Like” is featured in the trailer for CBS Films’ “The To Do List” and in TV promos for FOX and ESPN. How does it feel to have reached this achievement?
Kelsi: “It is so awesome and I am very grateful that such amazing stations chose my song to feature in their trailers/promo’s. It is an amazing feeling to hear your song on TV or in the movie theaters!”
CTS: Who are your greatest musical influences?
CTS: You are currently on tour this summer with The Ready Set. What has that experience been like? What is your favorite part about being on tour?
Kelsi: “Performing with The Ready Set is always fun, as his show is so energetic. I love his fans!”
CTS: How do you prepare for each performance? Do you have any special rituals or traditions?
Kelsi: “Each performance is different for me, but I still get nervous before going on…I can’t eat anything for hours! I just try and think about the feeling I get when I see the crowd, and this usually pumps me up!”
CTS: What do you like to do in your free time, when you are not writing songs or performing?
Kelsi: “I just adopted a puppy, so she keeps me very occupied when I’m not in the studio.”
CTS: Where do you hope to see yourself in a year?
Kelsi: “In a year I really hope to be touring the country and performing lots of new material.”
CTS: What advice do you have for other young people thinking of getting into the singing/song-writing industry?
Kelsi: “My advice would be to never get distracted from your goals and dreams. Stick to what you believe in and you’ll be much happier in the end.”
