Louis Tomlinson is now a professional soccer player. The One Direction singer has signed a non-contract deal with English second division soccer club – the Doncaster Rovers.
Louis tweeted on August 1: “Amazing day for me. Such an honor … who’s gonna come to a game?”
According to Reuters the 21-year-old states, “This has always been a childhood dream of mine.”
A statement on the club’s website reads: “Louis has always been passionate about football and wanted to realize a dream of signing for his home town club where he once worked on match days.”
This fall he will be playing for the Development Squad charity game to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Claire Rintoul – Chief Executive at Bluebell Wood shared, “We’re absolutely thrilled and delighted that Louis has decided to continue his support for Bluebell Wood and promote what we do here. Being a local lad it’s great to see him giving back to the community and supporting our children with a shortened life expectancy.”
Staying true also as a fan he said on August 3, “Just watched the highlights from today’s game. Unlucky looks like we were the better team @drfc_official . Lots of positives !!”
One Direction are currently on tour in America. Their 3D movie This Is Us comes out on August 30.
