Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka has landed a role in Lifetime’s original movie Flowers In The Attic. The 13-year-old will play one of four siblings who are subjected to cruel emotional and physical abuse resulting from a dark, long-hidden family secret.
Deadline.com reports the movie – based on V.C. Andrews’ 1979 classic novel – will also feature Heather Graham who will play the mother. Mason Dye plays the older brother who falls in love with his sister – Shipka’s character!
Ellen Burstyn is the children’s grandmother, Olivia.
The controversial book ended up having three sequels: Petals in the Wind, If There Be Thorns, and Seeds of Yesterday. Garden of Shadows was the prequel.
The actress once confessed to being a “kindergarten drop-out” – having starting acting at age 6. She now lives in Los Angeles but the place where she grew up – Chicago – is still special to her.
“It’s my absolute favorite city,” she said. “I think it’s so beautiful and has so much character.”
