Robert Pattinson has landed a new role in Life – the true story about the friendship between James Dean and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock. Pattinson will play Stock and DeHaan will be Dean. Anton Corbijn will direct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter – Stock met Dean when he was a young photographer working for the Magnum agency. The two traveled from L.A. to New York to Indiana where Stock captured now-iconic images of the actor before he was launched to stardom with East of Eden.
Filming is planned in early 2014. The Twilight star recently finished filming David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars as well as the futuristic thriller The Rover.
He won’t be in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. According to writer Bret Easton Ellis – E.L. James wanted him originally for the role. The two were at Pattinson’s house for a party where they were both “very wasted.”
Ellis tweeted on September 2: “E.L. James and I were at Rob Pattinson’s house when she admitted that Rob was first choice for Christian. Ian Somerhalder never in running.”
