Good news for Swifties: If you missed Taylor Swift on her Red tour, you’ll soon be able to see her on your movie screen (again). After making her film acting debut in 2011’s Valentine’s Day, Taylor has landed a prime role opposite screen icon Meryl Streep.
The two will be starring in the film adaptation of the young adult novel The Giver. A-listers Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgård and Katie Holmes round out the all-star cast.
IMDB describes the plot this way: “In a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the ‘real’ world.”
No word on what role Taylor will play, but it looks like she’ll be reporting to the set soon: Principal photography on the production is set to start on Oct. 7 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Giver is scheduled for release on Aug. 15, 2014.
