Shailene Woodley: I Love My Short Hair

Shailene Woodley At Elle Women In Hollywood Awards

Shailene Woodley made heads turn when she showed up to the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards last Thursday with a short hairstyle. Elle shared photos of Shailene via Instagram on the red carpet and posing with Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Harris.

At the event – held at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills  – the 21-year-old told People, “I wear so many more scarves. Having short Hair reveals to you why it’s so important to cover your neck up, because it gets cold! It’s incredible. Not having Hair, the lack of hair, even the weight on your head, reveals so much about your body’s chemistry I cannot even tell you.”

The actress says she’s loving the low maintenance.

“I love it. It’s so easy, man, I’ve always wanted to cut my hair … So it’s exciting to be able to just be free and chop it off.”

In August Shailene cut her locks for her role in Fault In Our Stars. She donated more than eight inches to a children’s charity. The movie tells the story of a 16-year-old cancer patient named Hazel who falls in love with a 17-year-old amputee named Augustus Waters.

She wrote on her Tumblr page: “hello brotha’s and sista’s alike! as some of you may know, i will be cutting my hair off this coming weekend in order to help morph my physical body into that of the incredible Hazel Grace Lancaster—-and i couldn’t be more amped. not only do i have the opportunity to externally shift my current establishment of self, but i have the blessed gift of donating my long locks to a wonderful organization who will then create a wig for someone in need. WHAT AN HONOR.”
