Crash and Bernstein’s Landry Bender is enjoying the success of her Disney XD show. The comedy series is in their second season. The young actress plays Cleo – a fashionista who is also a money making schemer making products for the “company” called CLEO. Celebrity Teen Scoop recently caught up with Landry to talk about the show, fashion and how “normal” her life is.
CTS: You currently appear as Cleo on Disney XD’s ‘Crash and Bernstein’. Tell us a little about your character.
LB: Cleo is the middle daughter of the Bernstein’s. She has a big personality, can be bossy, but is very smart and driven.
CTS: Are you a fashionista yourself? Are you like Cleo in any ways?
LB: I am like Cleo in that I’m sort of a fashionista. I’ve become even more so since the start of the show. Our wardrobe stylist, Shanna Knecht is really talented and had helped me a lot. I don’t like to talk too much about labels or what I am wearing but I do like how she has taught me to dress and mix styles.
CTS: What is your fashion style?
LB: At times I can be a tomboy and at times I can be really girly. It kind of just depends. But no matter what I always like to be really classy. To me classy is polished and also that if I see the outfit in a photo in 10 years I don’t want to say, “What was I thinking?”
CTS: How did you get into acting? What was your very first acting gig?
LB: When I was 4 my mom took me to see ‘Annie’ because it was touring in Arizona where I used to live. Instead of watching the dancing, singing, and acting like all of the other little girls I was watching the orchestra, lights and really the whole production. I knew early that it took a lot to put on a performance and ever since I’ve had a curiosity and an interest in the whole business. My first ever acting job was when I played a flower in the stage show of Peter Pan. I was 5.
CTS: Any actors you’re hoping to have a chance to work with?
LB: It would be a dream of mine to work with Betty White or Julie Andrews. They both are incredibly funny and seem so sweet. Julie Andrews especially in The Sound of Music. It is one of my favorite films. I’ve seen it more than 100 times. I actually played Gretl once in the stage show and hardly needed the script since I had seen the film so much. I would also love it if Sandra Bullock could play my mom.
CTS: Are you able to live somewhat of a “normal” life with school, friends, hanging out?
LB: Oh I always consider my life “normal”. It’s weird to others, but to me its normal. ‘Abnormally normal,’ my Dad always says. My parents have done an amazing job at keeping me grounded and I have my friends who are actors so we can relate because we sort of do the same thing, and I have my friends who live in Arizona who I see at least 3 times a year. I am comfortable in whatever I am doing and wherever I am at the moment.
CTS: What are some of your hobbies?
LB: I love shopping with my mom, hanging out with my friends, going to the beach and making iMovies.
CTS: What’s up next for you?
LB: We just wrapped the second season of C&B and my production company has optioned the rights to a book for a film where I will star. Other than that, I’m working with a voice coach and taking guitar lessons to further my music career and hope to guest star in another Disney show while we are in hiatus.
